Sansevieria ‘Laurentii’ (19cm pot)

Sansevieria ‘Laurentii’, commonly known as the Snake Plant or Mother-in-Law’s Tongue, is one of the most recognisable architectural houseplants. Its tall, upright leaves are mottled in shades of deep and mid green, each edged with a bold creamy-yellow margin.

Supplied in a substantial 19cm nursery pot at approximately 75cm tall, this is an established specimen with real presence — ideal for floors, hallways, bedrooms, offices and bright corners where you want strong structure without high-maintenance care.

Light & Position

Sansevieria is extremely adaptable and will tolerate a wide range of light levels, from lower light through to bright indirect light. Growth is usually faster and stronger in brighter conditions.

A little gentle direct sun is generally fine, but avoid suddenly moving a plant from low light into intense midday sun, which can scorch the foliage.

Watering

Allow the compost to dry out completely between waterings, then water thoroughly and let all excess water drain away. Snake Plants store water in their thick leaves and rhizomes, so they are far more tolerant of being kept too dry than too wet.

Water especially sparingly during autumn and winter, and never leave the pot standing in water.

Humidity & Temperature

Happy in normal household humidity and does not require misting. Keep in warm indoor conditions and protect from prolonged cold draughts.

Feeding

Feed lightly during spring and summer with a balanced liquid houseplant fertiliser while the plant is actively growing. Reduce or stop feeding during autumn and winter.

Repotting

Sansevieria is quite happy to remain snug in its pot and does not need frequent repotting. Repot only when the plant has clearly outgrown its container or the roots are becoming very congested.
