Ficus microcarpa ‘Ginseng’, often known as the Ginseng Bonsai, is a compact, sculptural houseplant with thick, exposed roots and glossy green foliage. Its distinctive form gives it a calm, architectural presence, making it ideal for desks, shelves or windowsills.
Native to Southeast Asia, this bonsai-style plant thrives in warm indoor environments and bright, indirect light. It can be moved outdoors in summer, but should be kept sheltered from strong sun and cooler temperatures.
Care & positioning
Water when the top layer of compost begins to dry, keeping the soil lightly moist but never waterlogged. Benefits from a stable environment and occasional misting.
Good to know
May drop leaves if moved or exposed to sudden changes in temperature. New growth will appear once conditions stabilise.

Care Instructions
Light
Prefers indirect bright light and will tolerate direct sunlight in the morning or evening. Ficus like to be warm, so keep away from cold draughts.
Water
Water thoroughly, then allow the top half of the compost to dry before rewatering. Over-watering will cause root rot.
Food
Feed every second time you water through spring and summer with a quality liquid plant food. There is no need to feed this plant in winter.
Humidity
This plant enjoys humidity. Mist regularly with water and remove dust from the leaves with a damp cloth to improve photosynthesis.
