Epipremnum ‘Neon’, also commonly known as Neon Pothos or Devil’s Ivy, is a vibrant and easy-care trailing houseplant with striking chartreuse-yellow leaves. Bright, fresh and full of movement, it’s ideal for adding colour to shelves, bookcases and hanging displays.

Part of the Araceae family, Epipremnum are native to tropical regions including Polynesia and are now found growing naturally across many tropical rainforests. In the wild, their long vines and aerial roots allow them to climb tree trunks, making them incredibly adaptable plants indoors.

Epipremnum are prized for their fast growth and forgiving nature. ‘Neon’ performs best in bright, indirect light, where its vivid leaf colour remains strongest, but it will also tolerate lower light levels with slower growth. Allow the compost to dry slightly between waterings and avoid waterlogged roots.

Let the vines trail naturally from the hanger for a relaxed, cascading look, or train them upwards on a coir pole or moss support for a more vertical display. This versatility makes Epipremnum one of the most popular trailing houseplants for modern homes.

Why we love it: Epipremnum ‘Neon’ brings instant brightness to a space with very little effort. It’s reliable, fast-growing and endlessly adaptable — the kind of plant that looks good almost anywhere and keeps rewarding you as it grows.

Care Instructions

Light

Prefers indirect bright light and will tolerate direct sunlight in the morning or evening. If positioned in a shadier spot the plant will offer less growth and require less water.

Water

Thoroughly water, then allow the top few centimeters of compost to dry before re-watering. Water less in winter when the plant is growing more slowly. Over-watering can cause root rot.

Food

Feed every second time you water through spring and summer with a quality liquid plant food. There is no need to feed this plant in winter.

Humidity

This plant enjoys humidity. Place in a bathroom and/or mist regularly with water. Remove dust from the leaves with a damp cloth to improve photosynthesis.
