Begonia rex ‘Indian Summer’ is a true foliage showstopper, grown for its spectacular painted leaves in warm tones of copper, burgundy, silver and deep green. Often called a Painted Leaf Begonia, this variety brings colour, texture and pattern to shelves, desks and plant displays all year round.
Unlike flowering houseplants, Rex Begonias are all about the leaves. The blooms are small and insignificant, so we recommend gently pinching them off to encourage the plant to focus its energy on producing those dramatic, swirling leaves.
This is a wonderful choice if you love statement foliage plants and want something a little different from the usual greens.
Begonia rex care
Light: Bright, indirect light. Avoid direct sun, which can scorch the delicate leaves.
Water: Water when the top layer of soil feels dry. Keep soil lightly moist but never soggy.
Humidity: Loves higher humidity. Place on a pebble tray or near other plants. Avoid misting the leaves directly.
Pet friendly: No. Foliage is toxic if eaten.
