Mimosa pudica, commonly known as the Shy Plant, has delicate feathery fronds that fold inward when touched. The leaflets reopen in about half an hour and fold naturally each night.
Other common names for Mimosa pudica are Shameplant and Sensitive Plant.
Note: the opening and closing weakens the plant if it occurs too often. Upon delivery the leaves are likely to be closed - they will reopen again after being in light for a couple of hours.
Position in a bright spot and maintain moist soil conditions at all times – reduce watering in winter. Can sit in water during the growing period. Feed fortnightly in spring/summer and mist regularly.
