Pyrus communis ‘Conference’

Pyrus communis ‘Conference’ is one of the UK’s most loved pear trees, producing elongated, sweet and juicy dessert pears with excellent flavour. This patio-friendly form is ideal for smaller gardens, terraces and large outdoor containers, bringing both ornamental beauty and edible harvests to outdoor spaces.

In spring, the tree is covered in delicate white blossom which attracts pollinators, followed by developing fruits through summer and harvests in autumn. The pears can be enjoyed crisp when freshly picked or left to soften and sweeten further indoors.

This compact-growing form has been specially selected for smaller spaces and container growing, making it easier to maintain than traditional orchard trees while still producing generous crops of fruit.

Place in a sunny, sheltered outdoor position and water regularly during dry periods, particularly when grown in containers. Pear trees thrive in fertile, well-drained soil and benefit from feeding in spring and summer. Minimal pruning is required to maintain shape.
